Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
mics are selling today ! help ..
just as a side note : im recording at home, with a minimal treated room, i.e. just a few blankets on the walls in a large'ish open room. ive got good offers on both mics, so which do you think will give me a nice warm, rounded full sound. both probably , but i want to know which is probably the best for what i need it for.
thanks again ,
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
K2... it's pretty much the same but has more flexibility and dedicated power supply and higher spl level
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
dedicated power supply?? . i thought the NTK & the K2 were both phantom power. im thinking of getting a M-audio 610 to run it through. Will i still be able to run my K2 through it??
i wish i had more time to research but as i said, their selling today.
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
my other problem is, my room has a few noises outside, as my house is on a main road. ive blocked as much as possbile ( without the wife getting upset!). Will the K2 be a little TOO sensitive do you think? . either way, im thinking ill also replace the tube with a mullard or something.
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
they`ll both be sensitive...you need to block out that noise if you using any condenser, as for which will be better who knows..i think the k2 has multi pick up patterns if you need those....tbh both will be nice mics and if u cant hear em then its simply a guess, opinions will vary so i would go for the cheapest...
i had a similar descison to make recently...you`ll just drive yourself mad tryna way up which is best, theres no definitive answer...
go for it...
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
they both have multi patterns... the k2 has a power supply dedicated for it's power... both use phantom power though... you just plug the output of the power sullpy to you're pre or interface... neither will be sensitive enough to pick up road noise very much... and you can use moving blankets to block it out... it's the exact same set up I have
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
you can also go to sweetwater and look both up... I mean that'd take the exact same amount of time as waiting for one of us to answer
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
Word, both are nice mics. I'd go with the K2 for the multiple polar patterns and about double the dynamic range.
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
cheers guys, ill see if i can grab the K2 , if not ill go for the NTK.
havent a clue what moving blankets are though.
you mean dust covers/blankets.. for moving home ?
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
These...

I bought these exact ones. I treats a large window, treated a couple walls, and made 2 folding gobos out of folding closet doors and still have 4 blankets left for whatever. It's probably the most cost efficient material for sound treatment.

i love my k2 sometimes
lol
p.s.
that UA solo610 is ridiculous man
i still gotta use my K2 with it.
I'mma record some new stuff on that setup
should sound way better considering imma have a booth again
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
Nice. I heard good things about it but never tried it.
Re: Rode NTK or Rode K2..
that's the pre Nom had... you both spoke to him... he said it was cool... lacked a little depth i guess and then he got the Avalon... 747? 737? pre/comp/eq... I used it with the K2 and it wasn't bad at all... sounded good the ISAone sounds a bit brighter and warmer to me though... why not check the 710 twinfinity?
