Follow The Leader
By: The Pumpkin King
Until at restful river's bank reclined
as Orepheus after Eurydice.
Before this correspondence 'cross the sea
each typing finger longed to tell the mind:
lead on, my love, and I shall follow thee.
When bit by bit our hearts could feel as free
as soaring larks because your words, refined
as Orpheus' after Eurydice,
transformed the waking world's hue for me.
Each rose-tinged sunrise beckoned, undeclined;
lead on, my love, and I shall follow thee!
But after dancing, singing merrily,
in distant lands our dreams remain confined
as Orpheus' after Eurydice.
Yet words for us grow sweet with melody,
to dearer songs than nearer hearts can find;
lead on, my love, and I shall follow thee
as Orpheus after eurydice.
