Do I need both? I have some $30 Aztek Lancing speakers that I'm sure wont do, and some $15 earphones for my Ipod.
I'm waiting on my bank to transfer money to my paypal, but I know I'll have a RODE NT1A & M-Audio Firewire Solo, by Fr-Sat.
I'll have around 100-150 to spend after that. What can I get? What should I get?

It really doesn't matter at such a low price level. You'll have to EQ whatever speakers you get anyway. Just go with a reliable brand. M-Audio Studiophiles or KRK Rokits will be your best bets.

I have my $7000 monitors sitting right next to my $50 monitors. Has nothig to do with being poor. You always start out small. Even if you could afford expensive monitors I wouldn't recommend them to you.
if it's $100-150, right now I would say get a good set of headphones... Sony MDR7506's are a good option, M-Audio makes some decent ones, and AKG does too... then save up a bit till you can get some decent monitors... probably at least $400...

I'm surprised you wouldn't say get some headphones... atleast he can mix and still cancel noise etc... monitors can wait for later... I'd say get sony mdr 7506's... or sennheiser HD 280 Pro's... I have both... I prefer the HD's...

the mic and interface you're gettin' are generally considered nicer than mine... my shit ain't too bad, but I am upgradin' at tax time this spring... I do have two sets of headphones, includin' those Sony's I mentioned, and I have an okay-ish set of monitors...

I remember when I got my M-Audios over the Sonys everyone was like KRIS TOLD YOU NOT TO GET THEM, YOUR A FUCKING FALIURE WASTING MONEY. What do I read a couple months later?
