As I Glance Back
Rewinding my mind into a poet’s lost times
Reversing the future, stepping back through the stop sign
Reminiscing my feeling for a poet’s flowing remembrance
Beautiful memories come back to my undying dependence
Glancing back through struggles which I could not break
Living through heartless moments which no one can ever relate
Written upon the slate of this lost poets bleeding page
Never forgetting my life, as I’m seeing through each age
Timeless recordings of voices that are lost in my head
Missing links to written poetry that has never been read
Forgive me mankind, for anything ungrateful I have said
I know now I will leap back, before I ever race ahead
Looking back, I make an oath that I will never move forward again
When I glance behind, I move on, to make countless poetic threads
As I gaze upon the mirror, I notice an unknown face
Who returns his past experiences upon the human race
He lives for unknown reasons in the rewound place
Fast forwarding in the opposite direction as my story takes place
As I long for the end, I reach upon light from the open door
I recognize this scenario, I know I have seen it before
As the tape rewinds, it blinds the youth from useless minds
As I glance back once again, I repeat my final rhyme
The mirror breaks, time has cracked, everything known has torn apart
Reaching the end, only to find that it is repetitive to the start
