The pleasure is mine, continue to dance. pretend I'm not here.
Such drastic measures incline me to keep a stance and stay clear.
These flashes of bright lights blind my eyes from a distance
Disease crashes, doves of quite statute are kind to my persistance
Bolts of fury dashing on either side of me and I jump in an instant
Paying her rent by hugging a pole and showing some skin,
She gets her self esteem shattered each time she takes the stage
Tired of dancin in the cage and facin men who have problems with rage.
After each long shift she sits down and counts her tips,
licks her lips, clocks out and heads to her beat up whip.
Her friends can't keep her in line, her parents can't pay another dime.
Time is no longer on her side, she's gotta get to college or else she might die.
Another day and she's headed to work, I'm waitin around, ready to lurk..
I see her smile, my eyes light up and my ears with a slight perk.
Her grace is uncanny and it overwhelms me as I watch her take her place,
She walks past me and I just watch every step that she takes.
I stretch to grab her arm but I miss by a mile,
I wanna be the one reason...behind that damn smile.
I pull out a hundred dollar bill and flash it her way
She walks over and sits on my lap, didn't even hesitate.
My fingers brush through her ocean of brunette hair,
I tell her, she'd be so much better off in my care.
That smile....works wonders on a man like me.
Makes me want to get down on my knee and pull out the ring.
I can give her the life that she's been dreamin of,
I can give her the love that doesn't require a glove.
I whispered, "My heart beats for you.."
And she just giggles, and takes that as her cue.
She saunters off into the crowd, her legs whispering to men that whistle
My heart is beating a little slower now, try to hide it but my eyes get misty.
She gave up my love and charm just to dance and get another buck fifty.
I'm at a loss for words for how I feel, rejected but my heart will quickly heal.
I wonder home, sick and heart broken, barely even breathing
As soon as I walk through the door, I turn on the tv to channel 19
The late night news is on, oh shit! someone got murdered
Is it really her, the dancer from the bar? My whole body shutters
That beautiful brunette, who could move with more grace than a dove,
she let her life slip away, and some man drugged and raped, claiming love.
I look down and notice the blood still streaming down my hands,
And I smile, and think.."That's what you get for turning down The Man."
